june 2007
june 12 2007 23:17 pdt parents are here visiting for a couple of weeks. we've started some work on the yard, with the promise of much more to come. also planning to (finally) finish all the transition sections of floor moulding. i've been going to school to work in the mornings and coming home to help dig holes at night.
sunday was a big day. we drove up to lake oswego on friday night, picked mom and dad up on sunday morning, and then drove up the columbia gorge to hood river. we saw some waterfalls, checked out the bonneville dam, and i got to fly the kite, and then we turned around and drove home in the rain.
today was also a big day. i bought my first fishing license, ever. and i caught my first trout in the mckenzie river. sure, it was only three or four inches long, and we let it go again, but there it was. we found a feeding ground for the little ones, in the shallows behind the island down by the boat launch on harvest ave. as the sun was setting, the air was thick with caddis fly and mayflies, and the trout were leaping out of the water to catch them. maybe tomorrow we'll try another stretch to see if we can find where the big ones are hiding out.
tomorrow is going to be an even bigger day if everything goes as planned. i'll take some pictures and post them once we're making progress.
