september 2007

september 30 2007 12:02 pdt no joy in mudville. the ducks made four disastrous mistakes yesterday at the end of the game. for an offense that has looked so strong, this was a jarring reminder that we are, after all, still watching college ball, and people make mistakes. two interceptions, a fumbled kickoff return, and even then it looked for the last two minutes like we might come back and at least tie the game. any time we were able to get into the hurry-up offense, it clearly threw the bears for a loop and allowed us to string plays together to keep moving the chains.

i've never seen a play come out like the last one the ducks had on offense. it turns out that if you fumble the ball into the endzone, and then the ball goes out of bounds, it's a touchback. we might have recovered from all of the other mistakes, but with less than 30 seconds left, we couldn't recover from that one. i guess it's a huge testament to our defense that we turned the ball over four times and still only lost by seven points.

and today it's raining all day long, and it's supposed to rain for the rest of the week.

september 28 2007 10:41 pdt the rain has finally arrived. it started last night, around midnight, and it's supposed to continue on and off all though next week. feels like fall.

september 24 2007 9:05 pdt it's definitely fall here in eugene. the sun doesn't get as high at noon, the temperatures are falling into the low 40s at night, and the leaves are starting to turn. it hasn't really started to rain yet, but if last year is any indication, it's only a matter of time.

classes are more manageable this year, mostly becasue i have a better understanding of what is expected of me. but there is much much more pressure this year to have a job offer for next summer in hand before christmas. so that is a giant time-suck. p and i have both been subjected to some car trouble in the last six weeks as well, so that is taking some of our time too. but i've already got one quiz under my belt in conlaw II, and it seems like the rest of the term is just going to fly on by.
