january 2008
january 27 2008 13:30 pst talk of closing school on monday if the snow doesn't let up. It's really only a couple of inches, but i guess there's lots more at higher altitudes.
january 27 2008 11:53 pst snowing like crazy right now. four inches in the last 12 hours or so and no sign of a letup. the local news tonight should be hilarious.
january 25 2008 11:15 pst classes have been going well enough that i started working with some of my classmates on a little side project. we're starting an online law journal at school. i wrote the second article last weekend, and it was posted on wednesday. it's about the hasbro / scrabulous tiff over ip rights... if you're interested at all, go and read it here.
not even 24 hours after the article went live, i was contacted by a producer from a CBC radio program called "the current." they want to interview me on monday for a story they're doing about the dispute, with a tie-in to the emergence of pirate culture in mainstream western society. i'm not sure yet exactly what the plan is, but stay tuned for updates. at this point i'm trying not to get myself too worked up about it, just in case a settlement is announced in between now and then :-D
january 5 2008 22:41 pst it snowed here today for about three hours. big fat clumps of snow. much less individual flakes than ping-pong-ball sized aggregations of slush, plopping themselves down all over the back yard. it's pretty much done by now, but we got maybe an inch or two that actually stuck, so it's going to be white outside when we wake up tomorrow. the funny thing is, we had dinner tonight in eugene, and there was a little snow there too but it was pretty much all melted by the time we were done. there must be something funny about the way the hills east of here concentrate precipitation, because i remember the same phenomenon from last year too- left the house with two inches of snow on the ground, got to school and everything was clear. we thought we had left the snow behind in michigan, but i guess winter is finally here.
january 2 2008 13:38 est just waiting for flight status updates. due to take off at 4:00. it snowed all night, but now it's clearing up enough that we might be able to take off, and all the airline websites say that everything should be on time today. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
january 1 2008 23:15 est still in kalamazoo. this time the problem was getting out of chicago, and we never got past the counter today. united gave us a couple of vouchers. we're going to try it again tomorrow. in the past 24 hours about a foot of snow has fallen, and it's still coming down like crazy right now...
