june 9 2009 10:39 pdt we put some david videos up at youtube. go have a look!
june 4 2009 14:34 pdt lots of rain the last few days. thunderstorms even. and strange weather patterns- everything here is usually onshore flow, from west to east. the last couple of days it's been all south to north. no dramatic house-shaking thunder, at least not so far- but i hear that it's been a bit more dramatic for those who live up in the hills, with tree strikes and power interruptions like you might expect from big storms.
p comes home from her california trip today. we've missed her lots. i'm waiting on the AC service guy and cleaning up the most egregious areas of the house, so things aren't a total wreck when she gets back. ironically, if the AC guy does show up, we might not be able to reproduce the problem since the rain has cooled everything down to the low 70s.
june 2 2009 22:38 pdt so. things seemed to be going swimmingly until sunday night, when i had a small accident in the kitchen with the mandoline slicer. the doctor says that i should grow new skin over my fingertips in about three weeks. we didn't go to the ER, because every story p could find about ER visits for fingertip injuries amounted to "they put a big glob of neosporin on it and sent me home." but i did go to the doctor's office on monday afternoon, and after they complimented me on the first-aid dressing job we did (all credit to my lovely wife) they ripped the bandages off, put a big glob of neosporin on it, and wrapped me up again then sent me home. hooray internet.
so i'm typing with eight fingers, which isn't actually as hard as i thought it might be, especially since i generally don't bother with the shift key over here. but hey, it's actually kinda hard too change diapers with one hand.
today was the first time i saw little d standing up in his crib, hanging onto the rail. don't think it will be the last. also tonight there was a crazy violent thunderstorm- he didn't seem to mind.
