Treasure Island 2004

This was my first olympic-distance race. Peggy has of course done this one before- it was her first race in the SF bay area, when she did the race in its inaugural year.

It's grown a little since then. That first year, there were about 500 age-group amateurs and maybe 20 pros. This year, there were about 2500 racers alltogether, and the Treasure Island was the last race in the Tri-California series of pro races.

I did OK. I finished under 3 hours, and I didn't walk (much) on the run. Peggy did great- she was 4th in her age group and the 10th woman overall, out of about 500 female competitors in the amateur race.

It's nice to have the race over with, so I don't have to concentrate so much on training- but I'm already starting to think about how I can do better next time.
